 Prayer Ministries

Always keep praying, no matter what happens, always be thankful...

1 Thess. 5:17-18

Prayer Opportunities

Connection Cards

These blue and white cards are located in all the pews and have a special "Praise & Prayer" section located on the back.  If you or someone you know needs prayer, write the request on the card, along with your name.  Just before the sermon begins you will be instructed to pass your card to the outside aisles where ushers will collect them.  A member of our prayer team will pray for your request during worship.

Bible Study/Prayer Groups

An excellent way of maturing in your prayer life.  First Christian currently has several groups meeting weekly that combine Bible study with prayer time.  For more information about the times and days these groups meet, please contact David Carrick.

Prayer Team

The prayer team ministry was established to pray for those people who have needs that are not being prayed for in a small group.  The Connection Card was developed so that no need would be missed.  The prayer team currently meets on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month at 7:00 pm.

How to Pray

A.C.T.S. :  ACTS is a simple, but effective blueprint for prayer.  The acronym stands for this:

A - Adoration:  Start your prayer by praising God for all his attributes.  The attention in adoration is not on the hands of God for what he has done for you, but on the face of God for who He is.

C - Confession:  Now you'll ask for God's forgiveness for the sins that have been committed.  1 John 1:9 says that if we confess our sins he will forgive our sins.

T - Thanksgiving:  Thanksgiving is different from praise.  It's here you express to God your gratefulness for all the things he has done for you.  Take time to thank Him for how He has provided your every need.

S - Supplication:  Asking for others and for myself.  Pray for your family, friends, church, school, community and nation.  Intercede for those you know are in need of God's mercy.  Pray for those listed in Sunday's bulletin and pray that the armor of God (Eph. 6:10-18) is protecting all of God's people.

Book Suggestions

The church library, located across from the Welcome Center, is a great place to start.  There are over two dozen books to help you grow in your prayer life.
